Washington

Bellingham -- This picture of Western Washington University's fountain on campus is very clear and refreshes itself constantly. You can see students pass by while you examine the different shapes the fountain water manifests. Not ultra-fascinating, but a good quality camera with lots of resources on the page, including links to other cameras. videobugvideobug + (lr)

Long Beach -- This camera, located in an oceanside restaurant, shows a lush greenscape leading to the shoreline. Nicely positioned, it gives the impression of being a well-done landscape on canvas. Picture is clear and sharp, too. Just an added bonus. Worth videobugvideobugvideobug +

Methow -- Here's a camera from a ski lodge. It looks like it's updated only once or twice a day - a big negative on this page - but the picturesque shot is enough to make it worth our while. Very nice framing and proportion. A ski lodge deck is hung in the upper right-hand corner, with trees in the lower third and the vista covering the rest. Very picturesque, but the long time between updates drags this nice shot down to a videobugvideobug +

Mount St. Helens -- Here is a truly stunning shot, not just for its spectacular location, but for it's subject: Mount St. Helens. It's a camera on the rim, looking inside the crater left after the mountain blew off in the 1980s. The "dome" of rock created by the heat and steam is clearly visible and is a must-see visit for any fan of Netcams. videobugvideobugvideobugvideobug

Port Angeles -- Here's a shot obviously set up to watch weather in this Pacific Northwest town. The proportion is a bit tough, as all the homes and buildings are far away, but it does offer a nice sky shot. And, on a sunny day the buildings will likely be much clearer ... but don't hold your breath for that sunny day. All in all, worth worth videobugvideobug +

San Juan Island -- Here's a shot of a Roche Harbor marina and certainly provides an image you imagine from a herky-jerky marina in the mountainous region of Washington, with twisting docks and boats, boats and more boats. Picture quality has definitely improved, and the subject certainly gives you the wool sweater, hot coffee feel of a bay in the Pacific Northwest. Worth videobugvideobugvideobug

Seattle -- Get a glimpse of the action down at Pike Place Market, in downtown Seattle. Picture is very clear and updates every three minutes. It's even interesting at night! videobugvideobug +

Seattle -- This image is taken across Elliot Bay toward Alki Point from a Queen Anne Hill office. Quality isn't the greatest, I'm afraid, but still worth videobugvideobug

Seattle -- Get an overview of Seattle from the Queen Cam, perched high above the city on a television station's transmitter tower. Image is a little blury though, which takes it down to videobugvideobug.

Seattle -- This is a shot of 'Red Square' at the University of Washington. Gothic buildings, busybee students, and the statue provide a nice shot of "home" for alumni and that common feeling of university for all others. Oh, yeah, Mt. Ranier is in the background when not obscured by the seemingly ever present clouds and rain ... videobugvideobugvideobug

Snoqualmie Pass -- As regular viewers know, we avoid "traffic cam" -- unless it sits atop a mountain pass as this one does in Washington. Not only do we see the condition of the vital roadway, but the camera really gives you a sense of the uphill climb, or downhill coast, cars go through here. Having the image updated every 30 seconds also doesn't hurt. It's a unique camera location, too. Worth videobugvideobug.

Snoqualmie Pass -- I've downgraded the above version from this locale simply because this one is so much nicer. It pulls back a bit, providing more of the beautiful mountain range in the back, including a peak I'm not familiar with. Proportion is nice, with a small pine tree in the front and the mountain in the back. Worth every cam of the videobugvideobugvideobug +

Vancouver -- Another upward-pointing weather cam over this Washington city bordering Oregon. This cam provides too much of the sky, and too little of the ground to be of broad interest unless you want to know how many clouds are hovering over the town. Which they seem to do regularly. videobugvideobug
