Boca Raton -- This picture shows a drawbridge over a canal, or some watery causeway, with a towering apartment building in the background. It's updated every 60 seconds (a great plus) and definitely gives a picture of the sky. For some reason, this picture provides a nice slice of life and is likely very impressive when the sun is out. Good proporation, excellent camera quality, and 60-second updates. For what more could we ask? Have to give it . Daytona Beach -- Here's a shot of the beach -- what else? It shows the coast and several buildings lining the beach. It's close enough to see the crests of the waves, but far enough away to take in the surroundings. It's worth checking out. + (lb) Ft. Lauderdale -- Here's one with a moveable picture. It's of beach boardwalk, lined with palm-trees and a small stretch of beach practically hidden in the background. Click on the image and you get a small, new window updated with a two-image picture that provides a sense of movement. Uhh, worth + (lr) Jacksonville -- WJXT's original Tower Cam -- one of the first in the nation -- is located 350-feet up the transmitter tower at their Southbank studios. Get the two-meal-deal here with a second Tower Cam that sits atop the 42-story Bank of America Tower on the Northbank. Nice clarity. Jacksonville Beach Pier -- This site offers four terrific views of the beach. Click on each of them, and they'll pop up in bigger windows -- which are fuzzier than the smaller ones. The good news is that you could possibly identify people on the beach with the view that's offered. Check it out. (lb) Kennedy Space Center -- Ever wonder what the view is like from atop a launching pad used by the Space Shuttle program? How about looking straight down? Check it out ... This in is from Launch Pad 39-A. You can get dizzy checking out this picture, which gives you a true idea of exactly how big these launch vehicles are. Worth Marco Island -- A viewer who just purchased vacation property here on sunny Marco Island alerted me to this cam. She says she checks it often for weather updates. When I viewed, the camera was looking North along the Gulf of Mexico from the South Beach access. The camera updates every two minutes and is well worth a look if white sand beaches and dreamy blue water make you happy! This is a marvelous large image. + Martin County -- Take you pick from among four views of the Martin County Beach that are stitched together on this impressive page. First, the scene is beautiful, especially in the morning when the sun is rising. The "panorama" effect -- while not perfect -- works well enough to make you feel like you are standing on a deck at a beachhouse watching the surf. And you can look at each shot individually if you wish. Impressive ... Miami -- Here's nice overhead shot of the city -- though there's more sky than ground. It's very clear, and is perfect for travelers who want to check out the city before arriving -- or who want to check in while they're away. (lb) Orlando -- Here's a sky cam view in Orlando. Actually sometimes it looks more like a traffic cam. Other times it's been dark with a too much sky. I guess it depends when you catch it. In any case, it's not incredibly exciting. Orlando -- Here's another view of the city, though it doesn't show much more than a couple of buildings, including the Sun Trust building. It's a quality camera, but is unfortunately limited in scope. + (lb) St. Petersburg -- This camera sits atop the Southtrust Bank Building and moves between showing a pier heading out into the Gulf of Mexico to the Thunderdome baseball stadium, among other shots. A viewer tells me the cam is best viewed in the afternoon when the sun is to the west. If the camera is on top of its game this warm, beach feeling is worth . Tallahassee -- This is a beautiful campus shot of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. The real time cam let's you clearly see people walking across the incredibly green courtyard, called Landis Green. Worth . (lr) Tampa Bay -- Here is a long-range image of downtown Tampa Bay, operated by a local television station's weather department it offers a tremendous view of the sky and current weather on this gulf-coast city. It also provides an overhead shot of what is obviously a main thoroughfare as it heads into downtown Tampa. Unfortunately, the image seems a bit blurry and while we like weather shots, everything your eye wants to see is far away in this shot. +. West Palm Beach -- Here's a view of the city -- though sometimes the view shifts to other random items. The WPBF camera is positioned atop Northbridge Centre and is basically a quality camera. It's worth checking out. + (lb)
